Again in 2018 Stay at Kirro is proud to support Broomfield Grazing Company (BGC), our Ladybrook farm and the Scenic Rim by opening our property to the public for the annual 'Farm Gate Festival' as part of Scenic Rim Eat Local Week.
This years event sees new activities & vendors, as well as returning favourites and promises to be our best yet!
On Saturday the 30th of June, Our gates will open at 10:00 AM with an Interactive Farm tour and talk, and photographs with our friendly animals, the morning will continue with our Beef Cattle workshop, where guests can partake in an informative discussion regarding the Australian Beef Cattle industry, and what goes into raising our animals for both local, domestic & international markets. An Australian Stock Horse (ASH) Demonstration will follow and guests can meet our true VIE's (Very Important Equine's) and learn why they are so important to our business, and our learn about our ASH breeding programme. Then it's time to take a trip back in time, and meet our special guest Philip Thomson and his iconic Bullock Team, watch and listen as Philip demonstrates how important this lifestyle was long before cars and trucks were even a thing...
We expect a few grumbling stomachs by this point, so a very special Lunch time service is available, fully catered by legendary Pitmasters 'The Wofty Possum' fresh from their return after a hugely popular 'CMC Rocks 2018' event. The team have put together an amazing spread of meat and sides using our own grown beef and pork, along with other locally sourced meats and ingredients. Prior to lunch service Pitmaster Jase will give guests the opportunity to find out what's on offer, and their process for cooking a great meal. Dessert to follow. *****BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL***** - Reservations Below - TBA
Local craft beers with soft drinks & water will be available on tap again by returning favourite Chris Herring of 'Beard and Brau Farmhouse Brewery'. In between snacks, cakes, biscuits & locally made preserves by 'Colleen Binstead'. New additions this year to our little Bazaar also includes Debbie Riley and her incredibly popular 'G-Free Donuts' and waffles and also All-Day Tea & Coffee courtesy of Sid & Judy from 'Mobile Espresso Coffee'.
Our own-grown BGC Beef packs will be for sale on the day, where guests can take home fresh cuts of our export quality beef and a few recipe ideas to impress their friends at the next BBQ event. Bring an esky and ice, these will sell out quickly!
Lunchtime entertainment featuring the musical talents of Beaudesert Local Keith Dunn, and new for 2018, the inauguration of the BYP 24/7 'Round Bale Race', 'Hay Toss' & 'Precision Whip Cracker' events, with categories for kids & adults.
Rounding out the day in the early afternoon will be a 'lost-n-found' demonstration by the 'All Breeds Tracking Club' where cleverly trained canines will show off their sharp senses to seek and find lost individuals.
Our pseudo-celebrity pet animals will be around all day for feeding and photos, and our good friends from 'Pickwil Miniature Goat Stud' will have some of their gorgeous mini-goats on display for cuddles and more! Lets also not forget, our tractors, trucks and off-road buggies for the kids and kids at heart to play in!
Stay tuned for more and an official programme to follow!
